Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
This map consists of a central building bordered by a walkway, which is surrounded by a blood lake. Kill the zombieman in front of you and take the shotgun, then follow the walkway north and west past an arachnotron and some super imps to some steps that lead up to a door. Ignore this door for now and kill the enemies visible through the east doorway, then go through it and walk forward to see a shelf on your left holding the red skull key - taking it will open three closets containing cacodemons and a pain elemental, and on Ultra-Violence (UV) and Nightmare (NM) skill levels you will find an arch-vile hiding behind the east wall of the shelf.
Take the megaarmor from the eastern-most window if you need it, then return to the door you ignored earlier and open it to confront a revenant. Head east into a tunnel with cages, which will open and release imps and chaingunners, then press the skull switch at the end of the tunnel to raise a pair of wooden platforms that will allow you to leap over a pit. Advance slowly towards the blue skull key, killing any mancubi and imps hiding on either side; taking it will cause a number of cacodemons (and two pain elementals on UV and NM) to teleport to the blood lake surrounding the building, so use caution as you drop down to the walkway below.
Return to the starting point and walk due north to find an opening in the wall where you can enter the blood. Walk north-east across an island, killing any mancubi that block your path, then go up some steps to find two to four revenants guarding an armor and a backpack. Continue following the path west, killing any imps that block your path, until you get to some platforms with health bonuses, then step across them and continue west past more imps until you reach some health bonuses forming the shape of an arrow. Arm yourself then step off the ledge to drop into a pit containing the yellow skull key - taking it will cause a pack of super demons and imps to teleport in (plus pyro knights on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) or higher), so fight them off until you see a gargoyle switch appear in the east wall. Pressing it will lower a teleporter inside the west cavern so you can escape.
Entering the teleporter will return you to the starting point. Walk north to where you faced the first arachnotron to find three locked doors - open all of them and step on the red X to finish the level.
Other points of interest[edit]
A super chaingun can be found on the east side of the walkway surrounding the main building, while a rocket launcher can be found on the west side. A super shotgun can also be found in a tunnel running through the center of the building, but taking it will open cages throughout the tunnel containing various enemies.
Exploring the west side of the lake can lead you to a chainsaw, along with a supercharge guarded by a revenant (or arch-vile on HMP or higher). A plasma gun can be found in the south-east corner, guarded by multiple revenants.
Secrets[edit]
- Move around the berserk pack at the start to where the super chaingun is and use the north-eastern torch to lower the berserk pack platform. (sector 233)
- On the upper level of the main building, go as if you are heading for the blue key. In the hall with the cages that open up, enter the south-western cage and use the metal wall here for a teleporter. This allows you to telefrag all of the imps (or pyro knights on UV and NM) on the outer pillars and gain a BFG9000. (sector 903)
- On the southern end of the main building, head into the blood and press the skull switch on the wall to open up two compartments. The east one contains a supercharge. (sector 5)
- The west compartment opened by the switch before reveals an energy cell pack. (sector 7)
- Going towards the yellow key in the north-west part of the map, find the target switch tucked behind the rocks. After shooting it, drop into the yellow key area and close to the teleporter you will find a supercharge and an armor. (sector 3)
