MAP12: Highway of Destruction is the twelfth map of Jenesis. It was designed by James Paddock (Jimmy) and uses the music track "Shoot the Guns Out of Their Hands," composed by Eric Baker (The Green Herring). The par time is 1:20.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

You start in a parking lot with imps on ledges to the left and right, along with zombiemen (and an arachnotron on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels) ahead that start facing away from you; there are various weapons in the parking bays that you should collect before leaving. Go on to the highway and head round the first corner to confront shotgun guys and arachnotrons, then continue north to a section with imps and shotgun guys on one side, an arch-vile on the other side and up to three mancubi blocking your path. After this point, continue north past a ledge with revenants to find an arachnotron in front of a break in the highway; there is a cavern here that leads round the break, containing imps, demons and more revenants along with a megaarmor.

Back on the highway, head south past Hell knights and shotgun guys into a tunnel packed with imps, spectres and chaingunners, then go round the next corner after leaving the tunnel to find your path blocked by a rockfall; you must climb the rocks by the south wall to enter another cavern with shotgun guys and chaingunners (plus a baron of Hell on Hurt Me Plenty or higher). Go through the cavern to get round the rockfall and dispose of a waiting mancubus, then head round the next corner to see a large rock with a spiderdemon on it - it is best to deal with this enemy before you continue. Around the next corner is a skin wall with an eye switch - press the switch to lower the wall and kill an arch-vile waiting behind it, then head east past a couple of arachnotrons and mancubi to enter another road tunnel.

Fight your way through the tunnel, which is defended by imps, revenants, demons and more mancubi, then go round the final corner to see a baron and knights ahead as well as a large group of demons. Fight your way through to the large gray door at the end of the road and interact with it to finish the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. When you reach the first break in the highway, backtrack a bit to find the ledge with revenants has been lowered. Behind it is a supercharge. (sector 247)
  2. In the first tunnel portion of the highway, at the inner bend, use the wall that has the lightning symbol to find a plasma gun and three energy cell packs. (sector 249)
  3. At the second break in the highway, climb the rocks to the small cave and get onto the rocks that block the highway. To the east side, you can get a berserk pack. (sector 138)
  4. Make your way to the end of the highway, then make a jump onto the brown fence, and follow it all the way to the end. There is a pair of skull eyes across the fence that you can use directly. Using them lowers a megasphere nearby. (sector 255)
