MAP12: Tangent to Reality is the twelfth map of Invasion II. It was designed by Rick Lipsey.

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the central field, at the south end, go between the burning barrels to the north to lower to a floor below. Head north and a lift will lower with a green armor. (sector 177)
  2. Take the lift in Secret #1 up, then head southwest of it and use the switch to lower two walls to the left and right. Take the one that is a hall east of the switch, then use the next switch. On this ledge, use the switch here, then head back through the hall and to where the previous switch was, which is now open with a box of rockets behind it. (sector 313)
  3. Head northeast of Secret #2, then on the ledge here, head southwest and take the lift up. Use the wall with grime on it to find steps leading to a box of shotgun shells and a berserk pack, which counts as two secrets. (sector 143)
  4. See Secret #3. (sector 453)
  5. In the room past the lift in the west building, head east and into the S-shaped hall. Use the switch at the end to lower it, but head back and at the bend, flip the switch there. Return to the previous room and go to the northwest corner, where you can head outside to the nukage. The teleporter takes you to a ledge at the southeast end of the field with rockets. (sector 315)
  6. In the room past the lift in the west building, the southwest corner has two round alcoves with lamps. Stepping into the left alcove will lower both of them. Step towards that alcove, but fall into the one to the south to find a secret room with an energy cell pack (only on Ultra-Violence or higher). (sector 496)

Bugs[edit]

A multiplayer-only box of rockets (Thing 42) has no flags set for any of the three difficulty classes, so it does not actually appear in the level.
