MAP13: MAP25 - Lava Flow is the thirteenth map of Switcheroom 2. It was designed by Micah Petersen (Jaws in Space) and uses the music track "Plexus" by Chris Leeson (Psyrus). It is based on the layout of MAP25: Bloodfalls.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

You start in a square courtyard with a lava river and some cacodemons. Take the rocket launcher in the middle of the courtyard if you need it, then drop down the hole at the north end and run forward to an island with a berserk pack, which is guarded by four spectres on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher. Continue north to a yard with a wooden tower and kill the various monsters here, then head north-west to a black tower and use the lift here to reveal a pain elemental (or four revenants on HMP or higher). Ride the lift up to find two cacodemons guarding a teleporter, then enter the teleporter to go to the south-west area of the map, to a ledge with shotgun guys protecting the blue keycard.

From the blue key, you can step back in the teleporter to return to the black tower; alternatively, you can blow up the barrels on the platform below then run east to collect the plasma gun on it as well as a megaarmor, from where you can head east to return to the starting point. Return to the wooden tower area and use the lift in the north-east corner to get to the ledge above, then open the blue door in the east wall and fight through some demons and zombies to reach another lift. Ride the lift up and kill a mancubus waiting at the top, then continue east to a T-shaped bridge defended by zombiemen and (depending on skill level) cacodemons, lost souls or pain elementals; try to lure these monsters into fighting the spiderdemon on the other side of the bridge. Once the way is clear, cross the bridge and go behind the fire portal that the spiderdemon guarded to find a berserk pack, then enter the poral to finish the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

Ride the lift inside the wooden tower up to find a supercharge, but watch out for an arch-vile that teleports in to defend it.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Open the blue door and take the lift. Head east and north and use the most damaged wall to get an armor (not on Ultra-Violence or higher), a BFG9000 (only on Hey Not Too Rough or lower), or an armor bonus (only on Ultra-Violence or higher). (sector 142)
