MAP14: The Flooded District is the fourth map of Ashes: Afterglow. It was designed by Vostyok and uses the music track "The Flooded District" by John Weekley (PRIMEVAL).

Walkthrough

Map of The Flooded District

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Secrets

1. In the southwest part of the map in California Steak House, shoot the three explosive cylinders at the south wall and go through it. Head east to get junk and painkillers. (sector 5297)
2. In the All Year Christmas store, go to the miniature Christmas trees in the northwest and use the switch behind them to open a compartment east of you with a machine pistol. (sector 4831)
3. In the Pro Gamer arcade, enter the north room and press the power switch. Return to the southwest area with California Steak House and find the elevator to the east of it. Use the switch to head up to, then enter the east area to get junk and a first-aid kit. (sector 1095)
4. In the Chinese Restaurant west of the central street, go to the main hallway and head west, but before the next area, enter the nearest room to the south. Shoot the gong and quickly run east in the hall to a secret room to the south with a master blaster. (sector 2209)
5. In BFB east of the central street, go over the counter and use the right register to open the back room with some food. Use the switch to open the window and use the small button on the ice cream machine to open the front of it, where you can get a regen stim. (sector 2486)
6. In the library area, head to the top floor on the east side and open the picture to find a safe. In the library, find several buttons, one of which is out the broken window and just to the south on a bookshelf. Another is just north of that bookshelf on ground floor. Another is up the steps and in the southeast corner. You can then go back to the safe to get an ammo bag. (sector 2720)
7. At the east street with the flooded cars, head to the west side where there is a truck with an "Angry Driver" sign. Open it with the gold security key from MAP15 to get light bullets, an ammo bag, and some junk. (sector 2314)
8. Head to the roof north of Secret #7 and go northwest. While on the roof, head to the building to the east to find shotgun shells, armor scraps, and painkillers. (sector 1438)

Inspiration and development

The Flooded District, as with many of the maps in Afterglow, is loosely inspired by real world locations. Here, the map takes place in and around the Underground Atlanta shopping and entertainment district. Some features such as Kenny's Alley and Georgia State rail station, as well as the starting open-air area, are still vaguely recognisable within the map's environment.
