MAP14: Underground is the fourteenth map of Doom 2 Reloaded. It was designed by Andy Stewart (eschdoom). The par time is 6:00.

Walkthrough[edit]

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

Climb up the steps to get outside then follow the road east and south, noting some cacodemons that are hiding behind the walls on either side, to a black and gray building behind a wire fence. Enter the building and go east to a room with two staircases, then go down either staircase - which will open a compartment with a chaingun and one or more chaingunners on the upper level - then walk east into a corridor that leads to a train station. Go down the steps and drop down to the train tracks, then follow these south past some spectres until you drop into a pit with a cacodemon (or pain elemental on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher) and a light amplification visor.

Follow the sludge west until you enter a large cavern with a spiderdemon and multiple arachnotrons; before engaging it, you may want to head up the steps on the west side of the cavern to collect an invulnerability (or partial invisibility on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare) and a plasma gun. Continue east from the plasma gun up some dark steps that lead to a cave system, then climb the steps in the north-east corner of the cave system to enter a vent. Follow the vent east until you can drop into another section of train track, then climb up the steps to the east to get back inside the vent and find a lift. Activate the lift and ride it up to the next floor, then exit the vent and step on the lift in front of you to finish the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Approach the train tracks, and then backtrack to find a previously-locked door is now open. This is a lift - in order to use it, open the wall panel on the right-hand side of the west wall to find a terminal. Using it takes you to the top; open the door to get the secret. (sector 492) Just past the door is a megaarmor and two medikits, and further west you will find a rocket launcher and two boxes of rockets.
  2. In the area just west of the train tracks, there is a locked room which requires the red key, however you can see the key through the window, along with a supercharge, a partial invisibility and a computer area map. To actually enter this room, you need to lure the imp inside to open the door from behind. (sector 519)
  3. In the cave system, find the green torch and lower the damaged wall in front of it to get a supercharge and lots of ammo. (sector 481)
  4. A small waterfall in the cave system can be walked through to find a BFG9000, an energy cell pack and a megaarmor. (sector 525)
