MAP15: Homecoming is the fifteenth map of Into Sandy's Cities. It was designed by GermanPeter. To those of you who have played MyHouse.wad, this map will be familiar.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

You start in front of a house-like structure. If you circle it, you can pick up a clip and two sets of four shotgun shells. If you enter the large door near the “front” side, there is another clip and set of shotgun shells. Go through the only other door in the “garage”. There are a couple of zombiemen and imps in the “living room”. To those of you who have played MyHouse.wad, this will look strangely familiar. You can perform a grab on the medikit at the bottom of the stairs if you are careful, but do not step onto the lava. The door on the far side from the way you came in, the one all the way to the left, has a revenant behind it. The next one has a set of shotgun shells you can also perform a grab on. The next one has a demon, and the last a shotgun guy and another imp.

Step onto the lava where the medikit was. You will be teleported into a maze. Follow the health and armor bonuses to a few radiation suits, then to a switch which lowers the walls of the maze. Then kill the imps and spectres, and go through the door here. Step onto the teleporter. Kill the zombieman, then push the switch to enter the next room, with a demon, a zombieman, and a lost soul. Push the switch in this room, then step onto the teleporter here. In this next area, there is a mancubus down the hall to your left. If you press the switch in front of you, you will have to contend with two revenants, a baron of Hell, and a pain elemental, but your reward is a box of rockets and the rocket launcher. Press the switch near where the mancubus was, then step onto the teleporter.

There are two switches here. Press the right one, then shoot the eye switch, then press the left one and go through. Go through the now-opened new door and kill the chaingunner, and grab his weapon. Then, in the north-east section of the house, there is a new teleporter. Take it. There is a switch in front of you, so press it. Take the only teleporter here back, then take the new one back and you will be in a new area.

Go up the stairs in front of you. There are a whole bunch of former humans here, so kill them. Explore all of the rooms. The one with demons contains a gap in the wall, so press “use” on it and go back to the main room, where there is a new opening. Step onto the teleporter. In this area, the gaps in the walls contain imps, but you want to grab the blue skull key. This opens up a wall at the back, releasing an arachnotron. Step onto the teleporter behind it. Exit the house, open the blue door, then step onto the teleporter to exit the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Enter the house via the east door and step on the small crate at the west side to lower one behind you, revealing a chainsaw. (sector 13)
  2. In the kitchen of the house, use the banner to the east to get a berserk pack. (sector 30)
  3. Enter the room north of the steps leading down and use the banner to lower a green armor. Ride up and shoot the eye to get one of five eyes necessary for the secret exit. (sector 33)
  4. At the northwest end of the house, use the floating skull rock to the southwest and you will open a closet to the north with a backpack. (sector 49)
  5. Enter the room north of the one with Secret #3 and lower the block here. Make sure the west door is open, ride up the block, and shoot at the west wall to open a closet with a super shotgun. (sector 60)
  6. Use the south counter in the kitchen, then go to the northwest room of the house and step on the ledge to teleport to a Hell version of the house. (sector 137)
  7. In the techbase version of the house, enter the west room and use the glowing computer to open an alcove with a backpack. (sector 319)
  8. In the inverted house (east side of the map), leave the house and open the exit door. Take the teleporter to teleport to a plasma gun. (sector 290)
  9. Find the five eye switches and shoot them, then head west from the main house into a teleporter to teleport to the west side of the map. Note that if you went into the basement and warped to the red and blue-walled version of the house, this and the other secrets will be permanently inaccessible. (sector 342)
  10. In the west side of the map, go all the way north, past the building, and through a wall to the north to get a BFG9000. (sector 164)
  11. After getting Secret #10, return the way you came and take the teleporter back to the house. The southwest well is now accessible with a soul sphere in it. (sector 65)
  12. Head east from Secret #11 all the way to get to the secret exit. (sector 203)

Inspiration and development[edit]

This level is based on the layout and gameplay of My House.[1] It predates the rest of the megawad and was originally intended as a vanilla demake of My House instead of a Sandy-style map.[2]
