MAP17: Promenade is the seventeenth map of STRAIN. It was designed by Holger Nathrath and Arthur Chang, and uses a music track by David Shaw (Tolwyn).[1]

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.


Other points of interest[edit]


  1. In the hall north of the starting point, open the door and use the lift to the east. Open the next door and get to the switch, where the walls around you lower. In the previous room, shoot the pentagram to the south to find an NFG. (sector 430)
  2. In the long hallway, once you get to the point where you can descend some steps to a lower floor, head behind the steps to find a megaarmor. (sector 450)
  3. In the red key room, use the drawer next to it for a radiation suit. (sector 449)
  4. Use the other drawer and use the switch at the end of the corridor to head outside to a computer area map. (sector 506)
  5. At the exit, go east to teleport to two long areas at the north and south ends of the fountain area, which contain mini-batteries. (sector 21)
