Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
The largest map in Project Einherjar is split into two districts: east and west. Juno starts in the harbor outpost of the east district.
The city is rife with weapons and plunder, so explore at your leisure. The switch in the southwest corner of the district opens the gate to the west district, and also triggers a massive Overwatch ambush. Save it for later, after you've cleared out the eastern district.
Juno's destination is the manor of the western district, which has a hidden lab behind the bookcases accessed by a switch in the kitchen. The switch can only be activated by the yellow key found in the eastern district's police station. Once Juno enters the secret lab, a red door seals her in with Dr. Kestrel and several Valravens. Kill her for the red key, return to the eastern district, and enter Castle Frostgard to find the exit switch.
Boss: Dr. Kestrel[edit]
The leader of the Jotunheim Vampire Docs is an ogre of a woman armed with a ballistic knife that equals Juno's own in lethality: unarmored, one shot is usually enough to kill Juno outright. Kestrel is physically weak, but very difficult to keep track of amid the maze of the stasis tubes; collecting any of the health bonuses lowers the tubes into the floor, increasing Juno's visibility but drastically reducing her choices for cover.
Kill the Valravens as quickly as possible, preferably with rockets or the Gungnir, but always be sure to keep an eye on Kestrel so she doesn't surprise you with a one-shot kill. Blast her to claim the red key.
Other points of interest[edit]
Secrets[edit]
- The second bathroom stall in the starting area has a false wall in the back, concealing a Shit Creek scattergun. (sector 416)
- The bank in front of Castle Frostgard's gate (the red door) has an open safe filled with armor and spring mines (sector 215), but stepping through the metal detector seals the safe permanently and opens the back wall to release a monster ambush. Don't enter through the metal detector: instead, inspect the fusebox on the back of the building to open the ambush closet and reach the open safe.
- In the western district's tavern, there is a switch behind the bar that opens a hidden brothel containing a super stim and a fresh suit of gray armor. (sector 386)
- A house in the western district has a man standing at a desk with a hidden switch. Activate it to open a secret closet with a super stim and a woman in a rather questionable position. (sector 314)
- Climb out onto the window ledge of the eastern district hotel and walk right to find a hidden missile pod. (sector 145)
- From secret #5, leap to the next roof, on top of the trucks, and onto the stack of crates for a set of spring mines. (sector 227)
- Also in the hotel is a tall and suspiciously hollow bookcase. Go to the upper floor and fire a rocket into the wall above the bookcase to kill the hidden enemy inside and lower it to the floor. This reveals a medical backpack, and additionally allows the player to get 100% kills on the map. (sector 232)
- Both east (sector 43) and west districts have buildings where you can climb onto the roof to collect hidden ammo stashes. The roof in the western district is also the first step in a series of roof-jumping to reach the upper floor of the northeast building with the open windows. (sector 484) When you approach the rear window, Baron Frostgard ambushes you from the castle windows nearby. Climb into the building and hit the switch to collect a Dessler frag cannon. Don't forget the ballistic knife on your way out.
- See secret #9.
- In Kestrel's mansion there is a switch on the upper floor desk that opens the door to a hidden dungeon with a Thane and some goodies. (sector 350) It also opens a door in the side of Castle Frostgard, unleashing a small band of enemies.
