MAP18: MAP09 - Infected Well is the eighteenth map of Switcheroom 2. It was designed by Matt Powell (cannonball) and uses the music track "Sinister" by Robert Prince. It is based on the layout of MAP09: The Pit.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Press the gargoyle switch in front of you to raise the blood pool to the ledges above, take the shotgun and super shotgun if you need them then head north into a room with multiple switches. Go to the north-east end to find a lift going up to a berserk pack and armor, then press the skull switch opposite to open a door on the other side of the wall. Go through that door and climb the stairs to a ledge surrounding a hexagonal platform, kill the waiting arachnotron and mancubus then head round to the north-east corner and flip the switch here to lower a lift that goes up to the platform. Flip the switch on the platform's south-west column, then go back to the door you opened earlier and climb the steps next to it to find that another switch has opened that will raise a small platform behind you. Step across this platform and flip yet another switch on the opposite ledge to raise a step in the room below. Climb up this step to a small chamber with a Hell knight/mancubus, then flip one more switch here to lower a lift behind you that goes up to the blue skull key.

With the blue key, go back to the last switch you flipped and open the nearby blue door to reveal another switch, which will open the north-west wall in the room behind you. Go past the wall, which will close behind you, and press the gargoyle switch ahead to open the surrounding doors, then go through the south-western door to drop into a blood pit with spectres and chaingunners (plus pain elementals on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher). Enter the south-east cavern to find a knight (or arch-vile on Ultra-Violence (UV) and Nightmare (NM)) guarding a skull switch which will lower the western lift inside the pit. Ride the lift up to the yellow skull key, kill the revenants approaching from your right then press the skull switch at the north end of this room to reopen the door leading back to the rest of the map. Now go to the south end of the room to press another skull switch, which will lower the bloodfall in the pit below, then ride it up to find a cacodemon guarding one more skull switch; this last switch lowers the lift on the north-east side of the pit so you can escape.

Go back to the room with three doors and pass through the north-eastern door, then look right to see a yellow door and open it to find a skull switch that reopens the wall leading back to the center of the map. Return to the starting point and open the yellow door to the east, then look south to see a blood pool guarded by demons, revenants and a mancubus. Drop into the pool and collect the supercharge on the four-pointed star, which will lower the pentagram wall to reveal one or two more revenants (plus an arch-vile on UV and NM), then go past this wall and step on the lava teleporter at the end to finish the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the south-west area where the plasma gun is, shoot the button to the north. When you go north-east of the plasma gun, there will be a switch to the north. Press it to lower the supercharge to the west. (sector 155)
  2. Head north from the start and flip the switch to the north-west. Quickly run back to the starting point and up the east steps, then north to a megaarmor. (sector 262)
  3. At the north-west end, head south and into the first compartment to the west. Press the button here and run north-east, past the teleporter to a lift. Take it up to get armor bonuses, rockets, energy cells and a computer area map. (sector 271)
  4. Drop east of secret #3 into the north area and several platforms will lower. Get on one of the north ones, then when it rises, run south through the middle and onto the first step going south, where there will be another lowering lift. Take it up and go south-east to get energy cells and a megasphere. (sector 216)
