MAP19: Withering Away is the nineteenth map of the megawad Scythe 2. It was designed by Erik Alm and uses the music track "Oldtown Station Remastered" from Shadowrun, a SNES game.

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.


At the start, exit the room through the door in front, go forward then turn right, grabbing the super shotgun and go down the stairs in front. Follow the path until you reach the blood river. To your left is a lift blocked by bars and a switch, to your right is another switch. Flip the switch on the right to raise the bars then press the switch on the left to lower the lift and ride it to the top. Grab the yellow key then drop out from the window to reach the area after the start.

Go forward and climb the stairs to your left to open the yellow door. Climb the stairs to the left at the end of the hallway then go left and enter the room with the flaming barrel. Remember the location of the red door inside then use the switch next to it, exit the room and turn left. Wait for the stairs to finish rising then climb them and turn right. Go around the small building in front to find its entrance, then enter it. Take either opening in front and drop down the hole to your right to find a switch.

Flip it and drop down to your right. From the top of the stairs turn around and go through the room in front. Follow the path until you reach an outside area with a switch. Press it and turn around, climb the stairs to get back inside then go to your left. Collect the red key straight ahead and go towards the red door seen earlier. Follow the linear route outside then go to the right side. Use the switch at the end to lower the structure to your left. When it finishes lowering approach the stairs and you should see a glowing arrow pop up on the ground. Follow the arrows to find the exit portal.


  1. From the yellow key tower, drop to the north onto the red wall, then from there, go east onto the rocks and to where the soul sphere is. (sector 208)
  2. At the eastern part of the red brick fort (north of the yellow key tower), you can spot a misaligned part of the southern wall of the room just before the passage back to the outdoors. Behind this wall, you will find a lift. Use it to reach the tower with BFG9000 and partial invisibility in it to grab. (sector 408)
