MAP20: MAP05 - Misanthropia is the twentieth map of Switcheroom 2. It was designed by Thomas Seifert (tourniquet) and uses the music track "Panel" by Zan-zan-zawa-veia. It is based on the layout of MAP05: The Waste Tunnels.

Essentials[edit]

Leave the starting room then open the door at the west end of the hall to enter an elevator. Flip the switch inside the elevator to go down to the road below, then continue west (following the arrows) to a set of steps; the room ahead contains imps and zombies, which will be joined by lost souls and a Hell knight (or cacodemons and one or two mancubi on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher) as you reach the steps. Press the lion switch on the columns next to the steps to open the southern door, then go through it and continue west through another door, which will close behind you. The next room has a lion switch on the west wall, but as you reach it the nearby bookcase will lower and release more enemies; once they are dead, press the switch to lower a pillar holding the red keycard, as well as an arch-vile on HMP or higher.

Drop down the hole at the north end of the room to land in a chamber with a plasma gun, then press the button in the north-east corner to open the door as well as a compartment with a megaarmor. Step through the door and kill an imp/chaingunner that appears, then head east up two flights of steps to another door. Go through this door to enter a room with a large staircase, then fight your way to the south-east corner of the room and press the skull switch here to lower a pillar on the other side of the staircase holding the blue keycard. On HMP or higher, watch out for the arch-vile that is released above you when you take the key.

Go up the stairs, ready to kill a (depending on skill level) demon, revenant and/or chaingunner that block your path at the top, then open the red door to find yourself at the north end of the starting area. Open the blue door here and kill a revenant waiting behind it, then go down either set of steps to a ledge and walk along it to a skull switch that you can press to get the yellow keycard; this will also open a compartment behind you containing cacodemons and/or lost souls, as well as lowering the columns in the sludge pool to form stepping stones. Step across to the compartment and press the lion switch inside it to raise a bridge over the sludge, then cross that bridge and open the yellow door on the other side to find the exit switch.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Leave the starting room and carefully step on the lift to the left, not taking it down. Doing this will lower a window to the north-west, so head there and jump across. Head west for a compartment to open and use the wall with the lightning symbol to get a berserk pack. (sector 117)
  2. In the S-shaped hall at the south end, head east of it and flip the switch, then go to the south-west part of the "S" to get the super shotgun. Open the west wall to get a supercharge. (sector 203)
  3. In the red key area, go to the lone health bonus on the west wall and use the wall there. Drop into the well to get health bonuses and a computer area map. (sector 535)
  4. In the north-west hall with the megasphere, head to the east switch and use it. The compartment to the north will be open. Head in to lower to a supercharge. (sector 558)
