MAP21: MAP01 - Dark Descent is the twenty-first map of Switcheroom 2. It was designed by Brendt Pantley (Megalyth) and uses the music track "Agony Rhapsody" by L.A. Sieben. It is based on the layout of MAP01: Entryway.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Drop into the pit in front of you and take the super shotgun, which will lower the blood to reveal a tunnel with a cacodemon, then follow the tunnel north, east and south past some imps to enter a vine-covered hall, which is overlooked by various monsters. Press the gargoyle switch in the south-west corner to lower a lift to your right, ride it up to the chaingunners' platform then walk south to find a plasma gun next to another gargoyle switch. Press this switch then go back into the tunnel and head north, then east into a room with a megaarmor guarded by two pain elementals; as you enter the room, the east wall will lower to reveal two revenants guarding the yellow skull key and a BFG9000.

Return to the hall and open the yellow door in the south-east corner, then go outside and head west to a rocket launcher - as you reach it, a nearby compartment with a cyberdemon will open, which is joined by other monsters that teleport in. Enter the cyberdemon's compartment and press the skull switch inside, then go back into the hall and dispose of an arch-vile before collecting the red skull key, which is in a recess in the northern wall. Go back to the tunnel and open the red door at the north side, then drop down the hall to land in a room with some demons and Hell knights. Go up the steps at the north end of the room to find an arch-vile guarding an eye switch, then press it to lower the blue skull key at the bottom of the steps. Take the key and fight off the revenants, imps and lost souls that appear, then enter the teleporter that opens at the top of the steps to return to the starting point. Go back to the hall and open the blue door in the north-east corner to find two revenants and an arch-vile guarding the exit lever.
