Essentials[edit]

Press the skull switch in front of you to descend into an outdoor area and walk forward to get a supercharge, but do not stop moving as there are super imps and super mancubi behind you (or revenants, super mancubi and normal mancubi on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher). Head east towards a megaarmor guarded by a pyro knight, then north until you reach some crates with an imp/chaingunner on them. Just west of the crates is a gargoyle switch - press it to lower a pillar in front of you holding the blue skull key, then drop into the lava pool to get it. Taking the key will open several closets around you, including one to the north with a radiation shielding suit; after getting this item, follow a trail of rockets south, west and north through the lava to find steps leading back to dry land.

Fight your way back to the gargoyle switch you pressed earlier, then walk south-east to a blue key door that has zombiemen and a suicide bomber behind it. Press the skull switch at the back of the chamber to activate a lift, ride it up then run west to land inside a skin building with an arch-vile inside it; continue west from this point to land on a red T-shaped platform protected by mancubi and arachnotrons. Proceed north to another skull switch and press it to open the door, then continue north to a megaarmor guarded by imps and a mancubus before running off the north end of the bridge to land on a ledge below with a mancubus and pyro knight (plus an arachnotron on HMP or higher). Walk north-west into a covered area with a revenant, then press the gargoyle switch on the west side to activate a lift leading up to a room with a spiderdemon guarding the yellow skull key - the spiderdemon starts facing away from you, and if you have a plasma gun or super chaingun to hand you can keep the spider stunned while taking little or no damage.

Once the spiderdemon is dead, take the yellow key then enter the blood-filled chamber next to the lift and pull the skull lever here to lower the lift again. Drop down and kill an arch-vile that has been revealed, then press the yellow pentagram button in the north-east corner to reveal a chain switch that will lower a second lift next to it. Ride the lift up and arm yourself, then head north into a room with nine chambers; three to six arch-viles will be released from a cage behind you, but you should stand your ground and avoid blowing up the barrels if possible as they will restrict the enemies' movements. Once all the arch-viles are killed, enter their cage and press the skull switch here, then head north and east through a now-open door to find another switch being protected by an arachnotron. The switch will lower a pillar ahead of you holding the red skull key; you can drop down from the ledge you are standing on to get to it.

Taking the red key will allow an arachnotron, two mancubi and four pyro knights to teleport in. Kill them before following the bridge west to where you found the megaarmor, then continue west along a second bridge to reach a red key door. Open the door and start climbing the skin steps in front of you, but be ready to step back as some of the spine columns will lower to reveal a pyro knight and suicide bombers. Press a skull switch that is revealed near the bottom of the stairs to open a door at the top, then go through it and head west to another door that has the exit teleporter behind it.

Other points of interest[edit]

A shotgun and super chaingun can be found on steps either side of the starting point. You can also find a rocket launcher by some crates west of the starting point, and a super shotgun in the north-east corner of the south zone; taking this last weapon will allow some revenants to teleport in nearby.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the second area, walk onto the left walkway and drop to the lava on the inner bend. Go south, and there will be a snip of a ledge here. Press on the wall here for a radiation suit, medikits, armor bonuses, and a teleporter back. (sector 392)
  2. In the second area, drop to the skin stairs where the super imps are and then ascend the steps until you see a berserk pack next to some candles. Lower the wall behind the candles to find a teleporter, where you can get a supercharge and shotgun shells. (sector 478)
  3. In the north-east corner of the second area is a teleporter. Near this teleporter is a cavern with another teleporter, use this one to get a plasma gun. (sector 572)
