Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
The first section of the zone consists of a conglomeration of rooms and hallways. The orange key is located in a large area at the west end, while the yellow key is at the southeast end. You need one of these two keys, which will access one of two computer rooms before the giant machine section.
This particular section is an enormous conveyor belt rife with hazards. Crushers dot the conveyor halls in most places. At the west side are flamethrowers, with some ammo and monitors underneath them. East of that is a large hole you should avoid. The east side has large buzzsaws that are fatal to touch. The central area between most of the crushers is the place to go, holding several supplies as well as the blue key. When you get it, head north and open the blue door to reach the main sludge tank.
Get past the landmines and go to the center. Here, you need to head east, as if you go west, you will find that the power is out at that section. Take the east path, all the way around to two switches. Use the "W" one to turn the west elevator's power on. Head back to the main sludge tank and west this time, taking the elevator down. Head south and get the green key in this room, then return to the main sludge tank.
Open the green door for the boss fight. Step onto the conveyor and it will start moving. You must avoid getting sliced by the buzzsaws on the sides. You also must contend with one of three possible hazards while stuck on the conveyor belt as well. Landmines can spawn in from the conveyor belt, avoid them when they show up. You may also have to worry about plasma bolts being fired. Finally, the machine can activate crushers overhead, one of fifteen possible crushers. Only one of these hazards will be active at a time, and can switch at any point. While you are dodging the hazards, the target you need to shoot will be on one of the side walls near the buzzsaws. Shoot it eight times to be free of the dangerous machine. Take the elevator to see that the Firestarter has escaped yet again through a teleporter. You will once again have to lose your equipment to enter this teleporter.
Other points of interest[edit]
Dive into the sludge at the start to get a green armor and a berserk pack.
A room northeast of where the orange key is has an armor bonus monitor, boxes of ammo, and a chaingun. South of the orange key are energy cells and a railgun. West of Secret #2 is a room with a ring monitor, rockets, and a rocket launcher. The room northeast of the starting room has a ring monitor, shotgun shells, and a shotgun. The room east of the starting room has energy cells, an armor bonus monitor, and a plasma gun.
Secrets[edit]
- In the yellow key area, head to the dead end with health rings at the south end to hear something spring up. Quickly run north, west, north, and west to the spring to jump up to a light armor and a golden health potion. (sector 32)
- When you approach the orange key, you will hear something spring up. Quickly leave to the west, north, east, north, and use the yellow spring to reach a light armor and a golden health potion. (sector 205)
- At the buzzsaw section of the giant machine, jump to the northeast part of the east conveyor belt to find "teh grossly hacked bridge factory" where you can get a full health and armor monitor and a BFG9000. (sector 1012)
- At the main sludge tank, head to the northeast and jump onto a bridge below. Shoot the vent to find a golden health potion and a light armor. (sector 942)
- Get the speed monitor near the elevator power switches, then run south all the way and east. Get rid of the landmines and make a jump east to get a box of rockets, a partial invisibility monitor, and another speed monitor. (sector 719)
- At the main sludge tank, if you attempted to head to the north area, you will have a bridge collapse. You need to just jump there (preferably with a speed monitor) to get the items there, which are an invincibility monitor and a speed monitor. (sector 672)
