MAP22: The Cracks is the twenty-second map of Doom Zero. It was designed by Christopher Golden (DASI-I) and uses the music track "Donna to the Rescue" by Robert Prince, from Doom.

Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
Take the chaingun and kill any alpha souls in front of you, then go west and north past an arachnotron to an open area with a large yellow rock. Go south-west from the rock to a fire wall and walk through it to enter a red area with demons and cacodemons, then go east around a brick building to find the red skull key sitting on a corner wall. Go back to the yellow rock and head north-west to a dark hole in the wall, climb through it then follow the path past a few imps to a red bar, which you can open to get the blue skull key. Return to the yellow rock and go south-east to a gray water stream, then follow this east until you see another red bar to your left between two Hell knights, which can also be opened to find the yellow skull key.
From the yellow key, return to the stream and continue following it east into a cave with alpha souls (and cacodemons on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher), then press the lion switch at the north end of the cave to open a door elsewhere. Exit the cave from the west and head north to a wall with green torches, then go south into the building you just opened and take the health bonus to open a closet with a mancubus and a switch, which will open the exit teleporter visible through the window.
Go back to the red area and press the satyr switch at the west end, then return to the yellow rock to see that a door has opened to the north revealing some knights. Go through the door and look east to see a blood pool with an arch-vile in it (on HMP or higher); you should kill the arch-vile before entering the pool as this will trigger an ambush by revenants and alpha souls. Go into the northern compartment and press the skull on the fence to open the bars, then flip the switch at the east end of the blood pool to raise a bridge to the exit teleporter. You can now enter the teleporter at any time to end the level.

Secrets[edit]
- In the center of the map is a moat that separates the exit from the rest of the level. Drop into the moat and go to the south wall, which will open. Follow the armor bonuses and use the lift to head up to clips and energy cells. (sector 45)
- At the north end of the map, go towards the steps to the east and use them to hop over the rocks to the north-east. You can pick up an invulnerability to the south. (sector 62)
- In the crater at the left side of the main area, go to the north side of the yellow wall and collect the energy cell pack, box of shotgun shells, and box of bullets. This triggers a lift, which is the south ledge of the yellow wall, containing shotgun shells, a berserk pack, and a backpack. (sector 78)
- Use the blue switch south of where the yellow key was located to open up the building to the east. In that building, use both lifts, and when the first one rises, you will notice a skull switch. Use it to lower more lifts; this time these are the rocks surrounding the building. Go behind the building to find energy cells and a backpack. (sector 165)
- In the building with the switch that raises a bridge to the exit, there are two platforms with evil eyes. Get on the south platform and the one next to it to open the south wall where you can get an armor and a supercharge. (sector 222)
- Lower the wall east of the yellow key with metal ridges around it to find a computer area map. (sector 227)
- Go to the lift that leads up to secret #1 and lower it, but look to the south-east and while the lift rises, jump to the small section of land. Follow it to a teleporter. Grab the clips to reveal a room with more clips, energy cells, and a BFG9000. (sector 236)
- Behind the blue switch at the north-east end of the map is another switch. Flipping it lowers the floor where you can take the path to shotgun shells and a megasphere. (sector 253)
