MAP23: Elysian Plains is the twenty-third map of Doom 2 Reloaded. It was designed by Andy Stewart (eschdoom). The par time is 7:30.

Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
Step on to the dock then head east through a door to reach a junction with two more doors - the eastern door leads to the exit once you have found the blue key. Go through the southern door and kill any waiting imps, then go through the south-east archway and follow the passage all the way south until you reach a hall with four columns. Continue south into another hallway and follow it west to a small lava pool, then head west through the lava to reach a round corridor. Go to the west side of the corridor and press the skull switch on the east wall, which will lower the walls around you to reveal demons/spectres and a berserk pack, then go to the north-east side of the corridor where a passage has opened leading to another skull switch. Press the switch to enter a crypt, where the southern tomb will open to reveal a plasma gun and the blue skull key.
Fight your way back to the blue door at the start of the level and open it to enter a small yard, kill a waiting mancubus then climb the stairs in the south-west corner to reach another skull switch. Press the switch to raise a lift nearby, ride it up to the wooden walkway overlooking the yard and dispose of some imps (plus revenants on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher). Continue south into a room with Hell knights and/or barons of Hell, take the rocket launcher here then enter the dark tunnel and open a set of bars blocking the exit.
Other points of interest[edit]
Go south-east from the graveyard area to enter a small passage with a megaarmor. To get back out, you must follow the passage until you find a chaingun, where a knight (or baron on HMP or higher) guards a skull switch that will raise some steps for you.
Secrets[edit]
- At the start, open the door, but do not shoot the enemies through the cage you see. Enter the door into the small dining hall and look at the small gargoyle face on the wall to the left. You cannot open it, but you have to make the enemies inside the previous cage open it (you may have to move further south to ensure they do this). Once one of them opens the wall, kill them and enter, getting clips, rockets, shotgun shells and medikits. (sector 459)
- On the west side of the map are some tombstones. The tombstone with the marking "UNKNOWN" can be used, lowering a wall behind you containing a plasma gun, energy cells, shotgun shells and medikits. (sector 295)
- In the small lava room, go around the east column to find a switch, which opens up a teleporter. Enter this teleporter to find an area with lots of barrels, a cyberdemon, an invulnerability, boxes of rockets, and a rocket launcher. (sector 392)
- In the subterranean halls at the south-west side of the map, use the skull switch to open several alcoves. Enter the one directly across from where the switch was, which contains a berserk pack, and open the wall with the gargoyle face to discover a passage with a supercharge and boxes of rockets. (sector 374)
