MAP23: Genocide Motor is the twenty-third map of Valiant. It was designed by Paul DeBruyne (skillsaw) and uses the music track "Industrial" from Hellcore 2.0, by Simon Judd (sirjuddington). The par time is 9:00.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Shoot the target switch to your left to lower a bridge then walk across it to a teleporter that leads to the center island, which has a large cross-shaped structure on it. Go round to the south side of the structure to find a skull switch and press it to activate a lift, then ride it up and walk forward - three mancubi will appear in front of you, and four chaingunners will teleport to the towers at the corners of the structure. Kill them, then look at the three metal blocks that the mancubi appeared in front of - each block has a teleporter that leads to a different key. They may be collected in any order, but all three keys are needed to exit the level.

Blue key[edit]

Press the skull switch on the west block to lower it, then enter the teleporter to find yourself inside a tall building - as you step forward some super imps and shotgun guys will teleport to the pads on either side, and a mancubus will teleport to the exit to block your escape route. Fight your way out then head round to the west side of the building to find a satyr switch that will activate a lift with a revenant on it. Ride the lift up and quickly run north and east past a mancubus (or super mancubus on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher) to a skull switch that will lower a block holding the blue skull key and a rocket launcher. Use this weapon to kill all the revenants that teleport in behind you, then head round to the south-east corner to find a teleporter leading back to the hub.

Yellow key[edit]

Press the skull switch on the north block to lower it, then enter the teleporter to find yourself on a winding ledge - do not stop moving in this area as there are six arachnotrons and two cyberdemons on overhead ledges who will quickly kill you if you stop. Follow the path south and east past some super demons and a mancubus to a teleporter; after telefragging the arachnotrons and cyberdemon on the east side, you will land on a second path with more demons and another mancubus. Follow this path east to a supercharge, then step on a second teleporter to telefrag the remaining enemies before reaching an alcove with the yellow skull key. After taking the key, enter another teleporter behind you to return to the hub.

Red key and exit[edit]

Press the skull switch on the east block to lower it, then enter the teleporter to land in a square chamber with the red skull key; collect the surrounding items, including a supercharge and megaarmor, before you take the key, as when you do it will cause the surrounding walls to lower in sequence and reveal various enemies, starting with two super mancubi followed by demons and revenants (plus an arch-vile on HMP or higher), then some imps. After the outer walls have lowered to reveal more super mancubi and arachnotrons, head to the south side and kill two pyro knights who are blocking a teleporter leading back to the hub.

With all three keys, return to the hub and drop down to ground level then go round to the north side to find three locked skull switches. Press all three switches to lower a teleporter to your left that leads to a nearby island, then go up the steps to reach the exit teleporter.

Other points of interest[edit]

There are three large teleporters on the outside of the hub that lead to a rocket launcher, a super chaingun, a shotgun and a megasphere. All of the weapons will trigger monster ambushes, so approach with caution.

On the south-west side of the hub is a step with a megaarmor. If you drop into the lava from this side then head west, you will reach a small island with a teleporter that leads to a plasma gun and two energy cell packs. Watch out for some mancubi that teleport in when you collect the weapon.

Secrets[edit]

  1. At the far southern end of the map, there is a path through the lava that leads to a supercharge and a radiation shielding suit. (sector 459) Stepping in this secret sector also lowers a megasphere at the beginning of the path.
  2. Grab a radiation suit and, from the hub, head westward, all the way across the lava and round the island with the rocket launcher, until you reach a supercharge hidden behind a metal tower. (sector 509)
  3. North of the diagonal walkways in the southern part of the map (with the super chaingun), go across the lava to a teleporter on the far side, taking you to a supercharge. (sector 1482)
