MAP23: Restricted Sector is the twenty-third map of 1000 Line Community Project. It was designed by DMPhobos and uses the music track "Dream, Dream Eternal" by Elric Sullivan (Darkhaven), taken from Doom 64 for Doom II.

Walkthrough[edit]

Map of Restricted Sector
Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

Take the super shotgun in front of you then head north past a zombieman and go down a curved staircase with health bonuses. Turn left at the bottom and head forward to a room containing imps and zombiemen, as well as a chaingunner and cacodemon on Ultra-Violence (UV) and Nightmare (NM) skill levels (a second cacodemon is also hiding in an overhead alcove by the room entrance). Head west through a doorway to collect a rocket launcher then turn right to enter a large outdoor area, then go up the tan stairs to your left and kill any imps waiting at the top. Turn right and push past one or two shotgun guys to a circular chamber then head west to a room with a blue floor; dispose of the enemies in this area (including a Hell knight on UV and NM) then head north-east through a brown doorway and use the lift on your left to reach a passage leading to the red keycard.

Just before reaching the red key you will pass a switch - go back to that switch and flip it to lower the wall, drop down to the blue floor area and prepare to kill one or two barons of Hell that teleport in by the room entrance. Return to the circular chamber and go through the east door (requiring the red key) to confront a knight, zombies and imps in a passage with a blue floor. Head south until you reach the end of the blue floor then turn right to find a switch that will lower the pillar holding the yellow keycard, which you can see through the window. Continue following the passage east to get back outside, then drop into the nukage below and go round to the yellow key - picking it up will open an alcove to the north containing one or two mancubi, and a red chamber to the south containing revenants, knights, demons, cacodemons and imps.

Return to the starting area and head through the west door (requiring the yellow key), then follow the passage past some spectres and imps until you walk through a tan doorway and reach a button next to a window. Press the button to raise a platform leading to the exit door, then head east and flip a switch at the end of the passage to lower the floor and get back to the bottom of the curved staircase near the start. Go up this staircase then turn left (east) and follow the trail of armor bonuses ahead to a curved path that leads over a nukage river; follow the path and kill any revenants and cacodemons that get in your way, collect a chaingun at the end of the path then head south to the platform you raised earlier and walk across it to reach the exit door. Open the door, kill a waiting imp and flip the switch behind it to finish the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

This level does not include any radiation shielding suits, so use caution around the nukage.

On I'm Too Young To Die and Hey Not Too Rough, you can find a megaarmor inside the mancubus alcove that opens when you take the yellow key.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Enter the nukage at the west end of the level and go north to a darker section. At the dead end, open the east wall to get a megasphere. (sector 163)

Bugs[edit]

Two barons of Hell and one Hell knight are inaccessible on Hurt me plenty and Ultra-Violence because one baron spawns on top of the Hell knight in a monster closet outside the map (sector 141). This also blocks another baron from teleporting in and thus renders 100% kills impossible.
