MAP24: Cavern of The Evil Spirit is the twenty-fourth map of Zone 300. It was designed by Paul Corfiatis, who also composed its untitled music track.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Approaching the blue key reveals several caves in the first cavern, including the locations of the three secrets. Head back to the southwest part of the walkway and jump north into a small compartment containing shotgun shells. (sector 34)
  2. In the same area as above, jump east into a small compartment containing shotgun shells and a medikit. (sector 37)
  3. Jump to the cave nearest the blue key which contains a berserk pack, a box of shotgun shells, and a box of ammo. Flip the switch at the south end to lower part of the walkway at the northwest side. Go through to get a chaingun, a box of ammo, a backpack, and ammo clips. (sector 47)

Bugs[edit]

In multiplayer co-op, player #2 (spawn thing 1) starts stuck in a wall. It is possible to escape this by running fast enough away from the wall.

As the player approaches the blue key, an ambush is triggered (tag 1). This event causes three things from the floor below to snap up to the higher ledge:

  • A stimpack (thing 182) close to the trigger
  • Shotgun shells (thing 240) on the starting floor
  • Shotgun shells (thing 243) on the southwest dark rock

When the red key is approached, some walls lower to release an ambush. Some gore (things 219, 218, 222) is placed on top of those walls but fails to lower, making it appear to hover in the air. This is caused by the corresponding mobj bearing the MF_NOBLOCKMAP flag.
