Essentials[edit]

Kill the imps ahead and grab the shotgun if you wish, then go up the steps next to the starting point to find a door leading outside, where several monsters, including a mancubus and arachnotrons on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher, are waiting. Go to the outcrop north of the entrance door to find a chaingun then run north to jump to the nearby platform, you will see a wall open ahead and reveal one or two revenants. Run north-west to that opening and kill a shotgun guy and chaingunner waiting in the next room, go up the steps to collect a rocket launcher (more monsters will be released to the west), then activate the lift to go up to a ledge with imps and Hell knights, as well as one or more arachnotrons in the room below. Follow the ledge round to a chainsaw then continue round to the blue skull key, which will open a monster closet behind you holding demons; you can also open the closet early by pressing the screens behind the chainsaw.

Follow the ledge back round to a blood stream and step through the gap in the fence here to drop to the floor below, then head due north to a skull switch and press it to open the marble wall in the north-east corner, which has a super shotgun in front of it and two revenants behind. Go through the wall and head down the steps to a marble room, but use caution as each step will reveal an imp or zombie behind the wall on your left. When you reach the bottom, kill any demons in the pit to the south-east then press the skull switch on the south wall to open a door inside that pit; as you drop into the pit, watch out for the columns on either side lowering to reveal four imps and/or revenants. As you step past the door to a winding path, look left to see a brown wall below and open it to confront a cacodemon, then head east to a spiral of bloodfalls; take the berserk pack in the center and kill all the overhead imps, then climb to the top of the spiral to get the yellow skull key. Watch out for cacodemons (and a pain elemental on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare) teleporting in when you approach it.

Go back to the marble room and open the blue and yellow key doors in the east wall to reveal another skull switch; this will lower the bars at the north end of the room, but will also open a closet with one or two revenants (and an arch-vile on HMP or higher). Take the plasma gun behind the bars and step on the bloodfall that lowers in front of you to go up to a room with a megasphere and several wooden columns; watch out for these columns lowering to reveal various monsters as you move through the room. Press the marble face at the north end of the room to lower it and reveal several revenants (or a cyberdemon on HMP or higher), then press the skull switch in this compartment to open the east door and release a pack of imps. Go through that door and follow the blood to the next room, which holds another cyberdemon on HMP or higher (avoid killing the monsters behind the fence if possible, as arch-viles may resurrect them later); flip the switch on the south wall to drop a crusher on the cyberdemon, then step past it to get behind the fence. Fight your way west, killing the aforementioned arch-viles and any monsters they resurrect, then flip the skull switch at the end of the path to finish the level.

Secrets[edit]

Official[edit]

  1. Just before the first door, get onto the ledge with the candle and the wall ahead will lower, revealing a backpack. (sector 96)
  2. When you get outside, go all the way to the left and you should see two brown blocks, one of which has a dead marine on it. Run across these blocks to make a lift lower. Go past this lift to find a rocket launcher and some boxes of rockets. (sector 119) The metal lift in the north wall of this secret will take you up to the room beneath the blue key, where the blood has lowered has opened to reveal a megaarmor along with knights or barons of Hell, as well as a supercharge in the east wall.

Non-official[edit]

  • After getting the supercharge mentioned in secret #2, press the lion switch behind it to get to a ledge overlooking the winding path, then follow this ledge north until you enter a tunnel containing the red skull key. This key is used to open a door in the northern-most room, which has a BFG9000 behind it.
  • At the south end of the winding path is a lift; activate it and step on, then run west as it begins to rise to land on a ledge. Follow this path to the end to find a brown wall, then open it to find a super shotgun, a stimpack, two sets of shotgun shells and two energy cells. You can also reach this room by stepping through the window next to the supercharge, but it is a one-way trip.
