MAP25: MAP10 - Unhallowed Fortress is the twenty-fifth map of Switcheroom 2. It was designed by Tactical Stiffy and Micah Petersen (Jaws in Space), and uses the music track "Taste of my Scythe" by Children of Bodom. It is based on the layout of MAP10: Refueling Base.

Essentials[edit]

Blow up the barrels in front of you then go down the steps and head straight forward into a room with a red carpet and a chaingun (taking it opens the north wall to reveal a gang of spectres). Go east down another staircase to a long hall with imps and zombies, then open the north door to enter a room with lots of alcoves. Fight through to the south-east corner to find an alcove holding the yellow skull key, as well as an arch-vile on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher. Return to the hall and open the door at the south end to get outside, kill any waiting arachnotrons and cacodemons (plus mancubi on HMP or higher) then enter the damaging magma and go to the north end to find the blue skull key being guarded by a Hell knight. Taking the key will release two groups of imps into the magma to block your escape.

Return to the long hall and press the skull switch at the south end to lower a lift with a cacodemon, then ride the lift up to a room with various monsters and open the south door to confront a spiderdemon. Open the yellow door in the south-east corner and go up the stairs, then take the supercharge to open a compartment containing a baron of Hell (or cyberdemon on HMP or higher) as well as the red skull key; the monster will teleport to the top of the steps as it steps forward, and if it walks to the north wall it will teleport again to block the level exit. Go back down to the spiderdemon's room and open the blue and red doors on the west side to find a zombieman guarding the exit hole.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Open the door north of the start to find health bonuses, a box of bullets, a box of shotgun shells, a box of rockets and a backpack. (sector 80)
  2. Open the wall at the end of secret #1, then lower the column in front of you to get a supercharge. (sector 88)
  3. In the central area, there is a block with an invulnerability on it. To lower the block, go around the big wall north of the block and use the demon face, which lowers the block. (sector 147)
  4. In the south-east room, go towards the floating skull rock near the north-west column and a wall to the north opens, revealing knights, a box of rockets and an energy cell pack (the items are not there on Hey Not Too Rough or lower). (sector 73)
  5. Head all the way to the south-east end of the map and open the wall between the red pillars to find armor bonuses. (sector 168)
  6. Open the wall north of secret #5 between the green pillars to find a passage with a box of bullets, a box of shells and a radiation shielding suit. (sector 177)
  7. In the east room, go to the floating skull rock to open two compartments with demons, a BFG9000, a radiation suit and energy cells. (sector 120)
  8. Open the wall north of the blue key to find an invulnerability. (sector 115)
  9. In secret #8, open the north wall to access the north-east section with the yellow key. When you enter, head straight north and open the wall there to get a megasphere. (sector 103)
  10. In the north-east area, head to the north-east corner and open a wall to the east to get a berserk pack. (sector 170) The trap that opens has an energy cell and a medikit as well.
