MAP26: Death is the twenty-sixth map of the megawad Scythe 2. It was designed by Erik Alm and uses the music track from the SNES game Breath of Fire II. It is the first map of the gothic hell episode.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

With its cramped, convoluted layout and pitifully low resources, it may appear as the hardest map of the megawad so far. And it will not get any easier once you discover that among other things, one of dreadful Afrits chose to set up his lair in here.

If you make it through, do not sigh in relief yet: MAP27 lies ahead...

At the start, go around the structure in front and enter it from the east side. Flip the switch inside to raise bars behind you, then go through them. Take the stairs in front, slightly to the right and enter the second lava pool on your right to grab the red key. Exit the lava pool, turn right, continue straight ahead and go through the red door. Drop down to your left then go around the structure in front and go down the stairs near its south side. Enter the red door on your left and follow the path until you spot an opening to the left. Enter it, collect the yellow key in front and drop down to your left to find yourself at the lava pool where the red key was. Make your way to the red door nearby and when you spot it, face right and go through the yellow door. Go down the stairs to your right and drop into the pit located on the left to exit the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Walk through the lavafall southeast of the starting point to get a green armor. (sector 216)

You can access the exit early by getting hit by the arch-vile near the red key and death sliding under the ceiling.
