MAP27: Burnt Offerings is the twenty-seventh map of Doom 64 for Doom II. It was designed by BaronOfStuff and Brett Harrell (Mechadon), and uses the music track "Sign of Evil" from Doom by Robert Prince.

Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
Go outside to get a shotgun then step west through the wooden archway to enter the main courtyard – one or two arachnotrons will teleport in here if you go round the south side of the central rock, and one or two more will appear when you approach the red door at the north end. Go to the wooden barriers at the west end of the courtyard to lower them and reveal a columned hall with a pack of demons and spectres, then go south until you reach a wooden door with one or two nightmare imps behind it. Go down the steps behind the door to a room with four columns, which will close as you enter the room, then go to the blue skull button at the east end of the room and press it to open the staircase running round the perimeter of the room; this will also open the columns to reveal Hell knights. Halfway up the staircase is another blue button that will open a door at the top of the stairs – after pressing it, go to that door and press the skull switch next to it to lower the lift holding the blue skull key, then run through the door before it closes to get the key before it rises out of reach.
Go through the doorway on the west side of the room and climb the steps to a blue door, open it and drop down the hole ahead to land in a blood pool with a square platform. The pit inside the platform contains a supercharge and a rocket launcher, but taking the former item will open four compartments around you with zombies that will be replaced when you kill them. Shoot the eye switch in the southern compartment to open the northern compartment, then press the switch on that side followed by the east and west sides to escape the pit and open a skull lever in the north-east wall. Flip the lever to open the southern door and enter a tunnel with arachnotrons, then press the gargoyle switch at the north-west end to open a closet on the east side containing a revenant (or arch-vile on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher) that will teleport outside. Press the eye switch inside the closet then go back to the columned hall, where a set of bars have opened at the north end to reveal a room with a plasma gun and the yellow skull key, which is defended by cacodemons and arachnotrons.
Go back to the blue key room and head to the top of the staircase, then head east to a yellow door and open it to enter a hall with zombies and one or two arachnotrons; also note the cacodemons that appear in the courtyard behind you. Take the supercharge at the east end of the hall then open the door here to enter an eight-pointed room with a pit in the middle containing the red skull key. Taking the key will raise eight wooden barriers around you – stand by the eastern barrier and wait for it to open and reveal a gargoyle switch, then immediately press that switch and run west to avoid being hit by a crusher. Kill the knights that have teleported in then press the skull switch at the east end of the room to reopen the entrance door so you can leave. Return to the courtyard, where more arachnotrons have teleported in, and open the red door at the north end to see one or two mancubi guarding the exit switch; as soon as you open the door, step back to avoid the revenants that appear to your left and right.
Other points of interest[edit]
Near the starting point is a pit with a narrow ledge running round it. Carefully walk around the north side of the pit (the south side is narrower) to reach some stepping stones, then walk across them to reach the eye switch in the center. Pressing the switch raises steps up to the ledge with the super shotgun south of the starting point.
Secrets[edit]
- In the hall with wooden columns, head south and open the east door. Open the wall directly ahead to get a stimpack and a switch which lowers a backpack. Look out for the crusher that triggers upon collecting the backpack. (sector 36)
- Climb the steps west of the blue key room and open the wall at the top with the hanging corpse to find a teleporter, which goes to the megasphere in the hall with wooden columns. (sector 47)
- In the area with the yellow door, go to the balcony towards the outside courtyard and shoot the skull switch behind the impaled body. The switch opens a wall to the east with a supercharge. (sector 302)
- In the south-west room, open the way to the outer wall, then head to the south-east corner and open the east wall to find a megaarmor and boxes of rockets. (sector 387)
