MAP28: MAP14 - Caustic Den is the twenty-eighth map of Switcheroom 2. It was designed by Matt Powell (cannonball) and uses the music track "Deep Forest" by Stuart Rynn (stewboy). It is based on the layout of MAP14: The Inmost Dens.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

As the level starts, note the arch-vile (or cyberdemon on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher), which will teleport to the east side of the map when alerted. Enter the nukage surrounding the starting platform and run east to a switch, then pull it to lower the wall and get a radiation shielding suit and super shotgun; note that a group of cacodemons, imps, shotgun guys and revenants (or an arch-vile on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare) will teleport behind you when you do this.. Continue east to a marble building near the center of the map, which you can enter through its south side, then run north over some square platforms to enter a tunnel with a plasma gun. Follow the tunnel west to find a mancubus guarding the red skull key.

Go back to the starting cave and climb the rocks in the south-west corner to a red door, open it and flip the switch here to lower a wall to the east. Go through that wall and approach the large door in front of you, which will open and trigger an ambush by imps, revenants and Hell knights/mancubi, along with one or two arch-viles that appear in the central cave, then go through the door and collect the blue skull key on the south-west corner of the ledge. Return to the central cave, then go back into the tunnel where you found the red key and go east until you can step across some platforms to a metal building. Open the blue bars to get inside the building, then head west towards a switch (guarded by the enemy that teleported away at the start) and press it to raise a couple of platforms south of the building, which you can step over to reach the exit hole.

  1. Head to the northernmost end by crossing the platforms, then use the marble wall to the north to find a teleporter. Take it to get to a ledge with a radiation suit, boxes of rockets and a supercharge. (sector 54)
