MAP28: The Black Citadel is the twenty-eighth map of Hellbound. It was designed by Zoltán Sófalvi (Z86) and uses the music track "Sign of Evil," originally composed by Robert Prince for Doom.

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.


Other points of interest[edit]


  1. South of the starting building and just before the bridge, go to the right side and press on the wooden wall with the skulls on it to reveal a megaarmor. (sector 88)
  2. Exit the starting room and head southwest to the door. Open it, then go to the southwest corner of the hall and open the plain wooden wall to find a plasma gun and energy cell packs. (sector 2122)
  3. At the main entrance to the citadel, climb the steps up to the high level, where the green armor is, then look south for a tucked-in switch. Press it, then quickly run to the column to the west and get to the west side of it to find a skull switch. This switch closes soon, so quickly press it, then run all the way to the east side of the northeast column and press that switch. If you manage to successfully press these switches, you will be able to get the BFG9000 in the middle of the entrance. (sector 2135)
