MAP30: After Death is the thirtieth and final map of Hell Revealations. It was designed by Victor Gasior (RiviTheWarlock) and Andrik Powell (Arsinikk), and uses the music track "D_GLOCK" by James Paddock (Jimmy) and Gus Knezevich (Alfonzo). The par time is 4:00. It is one of a few Doom II levels which make intentional use of ghost monsters, created by having an arch-vile resurrect a monster who has been crushed.

The level features an unusual setup for a final boss battle that makes use of ghost monsters.

Description[edit]

According to the Hell Revealations infopack:

I’ve always wanted to use ghost monsters in some way, and this map presented an opportunity I could not pass up. I’m not the biggest fan of Icon of Sin maps, but I thought this would be a good area to try the gimmick. Large Cat helped with implementing a system for Icon of Sin to create ghost monsters. Arsinikk was instrumental in getting the map Vanilla compatible and ended up beefing up the combat a bit. Take a second look around the gravestones near the start to find a cool credits mausoleum (Thanks Arsinikk).
Size: Medium
Difficulty: Medium

Essentials[edit]

Other points of interest[edit]

The Icon of Sin placement changes depending on the difficulty level. The head is moved further from the back wall as the difficulty increases. On easy it can be killed with four rockets, with medium difficulty requiring six, and hard requiring around thirteen.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Push a button behind the northeast gravestone to unlock a teleporter to a credits area. (sector 144)
