MAP32: Ghosts of the Old Kingdom is the second secret map of Valiant. It was designed by Paul DeBruyne (skillsaw) and uses the music track "Aztec Gods" from Reverie, composed by James Paddock (Jimmy). This is the only level in Valiant where invisible revenants and arch-viles appear. The par time is 6:00.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Take the armor then shoot the skull switch on your left to open it, letting you enter a columned outdoor area with five super mancubi at the north side. After passing the mancubi head north along either the east or west paths until you turn a corner and see revenants guarding a shotgun and super chaingun, then continue north to a chain switch guarded by two chaingunners. Pull the switch then head back to the columned area to dispose of ten super demons teleporting in from the south side, as well as an arch-vile that has been released from a closet in the south wall. Enter this closet and press the skull switch, then head north again towards a sludge pit - a bridge has risen across it, leading to a gray portal guarded by two more super mancubi.

The portal will send you to a gray "parallel" version of the same map. Take the berserk pack in front of you and kill any approaching super spectres, then cross the bridge and head south to the area where you found the chain switch in the "normal" map. Take the supercharge here then return to the columned section to find that the columns have opened to reveal 12 ghost revenants, which are exactly like normal revenants except for being partially invisible and having less health. Take the blue skull key inside the middle column in the second row, then cross the bridge again and enter the red portal in front of you to return to the normal map. Kill the suicide bombers and super imps that have been released then go to the south side to find a blue key door, leading to a chamber that is empty except for a megasphere and another gray portal on its east side.

Enter the portal to go to a parallel version of the same chamber - as you step forward you will trigger a voodoo conveyor that will release eight ghost arch-viles in sequence (they have less health than normal arch-viles). After the final arch-vile is released, a pillar on the east side of the chamber will lower to reveal the exit teleporter.

Other points of interest[edit]

A plasma gun can be found on the north side of the parallel columned area, inside the closet that the arch-vile emerged from in the normal area. The parallel version of the starting point holds an armor guarded by two spectres; taking it will open the columns containing the ghost revenants.
