MAP49: Forge is a map originally released in unfinished state as test.wad alongside the Outcast levels expansion for Doom 64 TC. The completed version was later released for Doom64 EX in the MAP04 slot, and is used for this article. It was designed by Samuel Villarreal (Kaiser).

Inspiration and development[edit]

A section of the western half of the unfinished test.wad map was further expanded into this level. The eastern half was rotated counter-clockwise by 90 degrees to form the basis of MAP40: Destroy.
