Mars City Security

From DoomWiki.org

Mars City Security, also shortened to Mars-Sec, is the regular security guard unit of Mars City and the adjoining UAC facilities. Mars-Sec utilizes rank structures, uniforms, and body armor distinct from those of the Marines. This suggests that Mars Security are contractors or direct employees of the UAC, as opposed to the Marines who work for the Earth military. In any case, the Mars-Sec, like the Marines, fall under the authority of Master Sergeant Thomas Kelly.

While the Mars-Sec seem to share many duties and directly cooperate with the Marines, it appears that the Mars-Sec serve as the day-to-day regular UAC security force. Marines, on the other hand, tend to have more specialized jobs, such as being tasked with guarding special areas around the base (Marine Command for instance), as well as accompanying science teams being sent through the portal. The security teams for the Delta Labs (Marines and Mars-Sec alike) are specially selected, due to the unique nature of research conducted inside. Because the UAC provides major weapon research and development for the military, the government established an active duty marine base on Mars to assist the UAC with extra security while the UAC continues to conduct research for new military weapons.

Applicants to the Marines who were rejected, as well as members who were demoted as punishment, often accepted Mars-Sec posts as a substitute. This was considered highly undesirable according to several statements found in PDAs, as the Marines seem to regard the Mars-Sec as mere grunts.

During the demonic invasion, nearly the entirety of the Mars-Sec force was possessed and turned into Z-Secs (short for Zombie Security); the remainder were killed.

Known Mars City security personnel[edit]

Equipment[edit]

A typical Mars-Sec wears a helmet with combat visor, goggles, or a sealed, pressurized helmet suitable for outside operations and transit. Unlike the marines, who all wear brownish-green armor, the Mars-Sec wear black armor. Mars-Sec standard issue weapons include the pistol, shotgun, and Enforcer machine gun. Security guards are issued PDAs, and utilize equipment such as sentry bots, keycards, and other gear. Some are equipped with protective riot shields.
