The Maykr drone is a character and an enemy type appearing in Doom: The Dark Ages. Unlike the Maykr drones in Doom Eternal, the drones are a weak fodder enemy which die almost instantly when attacked. They serve more as a source of ammunition than as an actual threat.

Lore

The Maykr drones serve under the Kreed Maykr. They are observed carrying out various activities, including using the console which controls all of the systems which imprison the Doom Slayer aboard the Kreed's ship. They are able to manipulate devices and objects using arms made of hard light which can be activated or turned off at will.

Several drones are killed when Prince Ahzrak manages to corrupt one through his influence, using it to speak to the Kreed in an attempt to persuade him to cooperate with the forces of Hell.

Once the Bishop's betrayal was revealed, several drones attempt to defend his ship from the Doom Slayer and act as enemies which offer only minimal resistance.

Trivia

• The Maykr drone first appeared in Doom Eternal, albeit as a stronger enemy. Unlike what the lore of that game suggested, these drones are able to leave Urdak. Apart from a single scene at the start of Sentinel Barracks, where a pair of drones watch the Slayer outside the command building, they are confined to the Kreed's ship.
• Despite appearing in a number of cutscenes, the Maykr drones are only encountered as an enemy in a single level of The Dark Ages, appearing near the end of Resurrection.
• The drone and its counterpart from Doom Eternal are called "Maykr_Zombie" in the games' files.
