NetDoom was an early source port by Peter Zhou, alias Resde, initially based off WinDoom and later versions on PrBoom. It sought to bring more advanced networking features to Doom, utilizing network code from JHexen.
History[edit]
NetDoom's first release occurred on February 26, 2000, based off WinDoom. This was quickly followed by version .02 a day later which optimized the speed of the networking code. It combined the features of this port with the networking code of JHexen, requiring DirectX 6 to function. After receiving criticism on the chosen codebase for NetDoom, the last version moved to PrBoom 2.02, the Windows port of Boom 2.02. It was released on February 29, 2000.
It was to be the last release of the port.
