Romero announces SIGIL - 12 December 2018

By Quasar et al. for DoomWiki.org John Romero celebrated the 25th anniversary of the release of Doom with the announcement of SIGIL, a new nine-level episode for the game which serves as a continuation of the story from the end of Thy Flesh Consumed: “ After killing the Spiderdemon at the end of E4M8 (Unto the Cruel), your next stop is Earth — you must save it from hellspawn that is causing unimaginable carnage. But Baphomet glitched the final teleporter with his hidden sigil whose eldritch power brings you to even darker shores of Hell. You fight through this stygian pocket of evil to confront the ultimate harbingers of Satan, then finally return to become Earth’s savior. ” —John Romero, [1] The episode itself will be released for free in February 2019, but hardcore fans can take avail of one of two special offers from Romero Games until December 24. The Beast Box special edition, retailing for $166 US, includes the following: A demonic over-sized box, inspired by the id Anthology box, individually numbered and signed personally by John Romero and featuring the artwork of Christopher Lovell; A 16 GB 3.5" floppy disk-themed USB that includes the free megawad data and extras. Doom Eternal Announced - 10 June 2018

By Quasar for DoomWiki.org Bethesda and id Software have announced the newest entry in the Doom series, entitled Doom Eternal, at the annual BE3 presentation as part of E3 2018. Promising a more powerful Doom Slayer and twice as many demons to fight, the teaser trailer released as part of the presentation displays a nightmarish Hell on Earth scenario, as skyscrapers are torn apart by giant tentacles and demons scramble over the ruins of cars and buildings. Additional details are slated for release as of QuakeCon in August.

Universal Confirms New Doom Movie - 21 April 2018

By Quasar for DoomWiki.org After a tweet from actress Nina Bergman surfaced in which she mentioned signing onto a new Doom movie project with Universal, with filming slated to take place in Bulgaria, a spokesperson for NBC/Universal confirmed to Variety that a project is underway at Universal 1440 Entertainment, the company's direct distribution division. This has led to speculation that the film will eschew the theater and be targeted at a direct-to-video or digital streaming release.

Bethesda's Pete Hines: E3 is "Hell on Earth" - 14 April 2018

By Quasar for DoomWiki.org Rumors of activity at id Software have intensified as Bethesda Softworks' Vice President of Marketing Pete Hines used the phrase "hell on Earth" to describe the company's preparation process for E3 in an interview with Dual Shockers. This statement, an echo of one made by then-CEO Todd Hollenshead after the announcement of the original canceled Doom 4 project, feeds speculation of an upcoming new entry in the Doom series as a follow up to the wildly successful release of Doom (2016) almost two years ago. Bethesda is scheduled to deliver its annual BE3 presentation on June 10, 2018, at 6:30pm PDT.
