Nightdive Studios
From DoomWiki.org
Nightdive Studios, Inc. (previously known as Night Dive Studios, LLC) is a video game development company that was created in 2013 by designer Stephen Kick. Nightdive Studios is registered in Washington State and officially located in Vancouver. The company is known for obtaining rights to classic games that are no longer available, updating them for compatibility with modern platforms, and re-releasing them.
Nightdive Studios is notable in the Doom community for obtaining the rights to Strife in 2014, and organizing the development of a re-release with an updated engine titled Strife: Veteran Edition. The company has also cooperated with id Software and Bethesda on an updated re-release of Doom 64 which was released in 2020, and again on Doom + Doom II in 2024, an upgrade to the previous version of Doom Classic. The company has also produced remasters for the Quake series. Later in 2024 it released Killing Time: Resurrected, as well as confirming that the original PC port of Killing Time was based on the Jaguar Doom source code.
Nightdive also employs many Doom community members such as Samuel "Kaiser" Villarreal, James "Quasar" Haley, Edward "Edward850" Richardson, and Max "Altazimuth" Waine.
On March 22, 2023, it was announced that Nightdive Studios would be acquired in full by Atari SA and would continue the same work as a subsidiary of that company.[1]
