OptiDoom is a source port of Doom for the 3DO by Michael Kargas (Optimus), based on the open-sourced code of Doom for the 3DO. It adds optimizations and performance options to the port, due to the main criticism of the original port being its low frame rate.

  • Cheat slider. Allows user to select cheats to enable the further the slider is dragged.
  • No clip cheat. Not originally in the 3DO version of Doom, taken from Doom for PC.

  • Frame limiter option.
  • FPS counter. Automatically calculates current frames per second.

History[edit]

OptiDoom version 0.1 released with cheat options such as flying, the cheat slider, player and enemy speed, and the option to have untextured floors/ceilings. Version 0.2 added more performance options such as removing music playback when volume is at zero, a wireframe mode, and untextured walls. And version 0.2b added graphic preset options, named after the visual similarity to various ports, while version 0.3 added a gamma correction slider.
