Orange Is True Love is a three-level Doom II PWAD for Boom-compatible source ports. A precursor to the Wormwood series, it represents the first in a series of Halloween-themed collaborations between Zachary Stephens (Ribbiks) and Grain of Salt and was released on October 31, 2018.
The WAD features a prominent orange color theme and consists of two short but challenging opening maps and a more extensive, medium-length finale.

Custom content[edit]
The WAD makes use of DeHackEd for its custom content, and includes a modified PLAYPAL and COLORMAP, resulting in the main range of greens (colors 112–127 in the palette) being replaced with more yellowish hues, which fall off in brightness less quickly with distance or inside darker sectors compared to the rest of the palette, creating the effect of these greens giving off a slight glow. Additionally, the color ranges of blue (192–207 & 240–247) are replaced with a secondary range of orange hues, greatly increasing the number of orange hues in the palette, with a limited blue range replacing the magenta hues (250–254).
- Green cyberdemon
- This custom cyberdemon has green instead of red wiring and only possesses 1000 hit points, making it much easier to kill. It replaces the spider mastermind.
- Bats
- Flying bats that will chase the player like regular monsters but cannot do any damage, as they lack an attack state, nor are they shootable themselves, functioning instead as a kind of mobile decoration and visual distraction. They replace the Wolfenstein SS.
- Green soulsphere
- A green soulsphere that replaces the invulnerability sphere, but otherwise functions exactly like the standard variant. Since vanilla Doom defines item behavior based on the sprite name and not the thing number, this is achieved by switching the sprite number of the invulnerability sphere's states to those of the soulsphere instead, specifically the added green soulsphere animation frames. The regular soulsphere is also used in the WAD but because of the changes to the color palette will appear orange instead of blue.
The BFG has been modified to fire a single plasma gun projectile with no tracers, while the starting ammo of the pistol has been removed, making the player automatically switch to the fist on start-up.
