Overload is a multiplayer mod created by the Mechanix Union mapping team. It was the first project created by the Union, and was initially released in 2011 for Skulltag, with the final version for Zandronum appearing on June 11, 2012. Overload started off as a game mode for the sequel of Sabbat Martyr Deathmatch, which was planned to include more game modes than just the standard deathmatch. When that project's development stalled and was cancelled, the game mode's code was picked up by the Mechanix Union, which created a set of 11 levels for it.
Overload is a team-based mod where the objective is to hold a central core on the map, which will make the pillar in the base of the opposing team vulnerable to attack: damaging it enough will destroy the enemy sphere, allowing the attacking team to score.
