Plutonia 3: Going to Surface (sometimes corrected as Plutonia 3: Going to the Surface) is a 32-level megawad created by Sergey Burow (SilverMiner) as an unofficial sequel to Plutonia 2. It is known for its poor quality, involving many rookie map errors and poor map design. Plutonia 3 was uploaded to the idgames archive on July 2, 2017 and was later removed from the archive completely. An unofficial joke sequel, Plutonia 4, was made by Gothic as an April Fools joke in 2018.
There are two versions of Plutonia 3: a version compatible for Vanilla Doom, and another for ZDoom. The ZDoom version adds three episodes: "Foggy Boggy Mountain", "If You Could", and an unnamed third episode. These take you to MAP01, MAP12 and MAP21, respectively.

Custom monsters[edit]
- Rocket zombie
- A pretty strong new kind of zombie. Quickly fires a flare gun at the player. Although slower than regular zombies, it is capable of finishing off the player in a matter of seconds.
- Plasma zombie
- An extremely dangerous type of zombie. Very similar in appearance to the new protagonist. Has more hit points, runs at a very high speed and furiously shoots plasma projectiles and mini BFG projectiles in all directions.
- Gatewatcher illusion (BOSS)
- In terms of abilities, this new boss is no different from the Icon of Sin. In this story, his role as an antagonist isn't defined. But the battlefield around him and the way of killing him is very difficult and cunning.
