The pulverizer as it appeared in the first trailer of the game, being inspected by the Doom Slayer.

The pulverizer is a weapon in Doom: The Dark Ages,[1] part of the skull crusher class along with the ravager. It is a rapid-fire weapon that shreds humanoid skulls and fires the shards in a wide arc. It is introduced in the Sentinel Barracks.

Tactical analysis[edit]

The pulverizer rapid-fires bone shards in a wide arc, making it useful against crowds of small enemies. Against larger enemies, the pulverizer needs to be fired at close range to ensure that all its projectiles hit their target. Upgrading the pulverizer allows it to build charge when killing demons, increasing the Doom Slayer's movement speed and the pulverizer's fire rate.

Upgrades[edit]

Runic Skull
Killing a demon with the pulverizer or melee builds charge based on the size of the demon. Your movement speed and the pulverizer rate of fire are increased at maximum charge.
Runic Strike
Melee strikes now build and maintain charge.
Flay
The pulverizer fires an increased number of projectiles per shot over a wider area.

Mastery[edit]

Purchasing all upgrade tiers for the pulverizer will unlock its mastery challenge. Completing the challenge will unlock the gold "Conqueror" skin for this weapon.

Hunter
Cause charged damage to demons with the pulverizer 250 times.

Lore[edit]

The pulverizer was born from the madness of a Sentinel engineer corrupted by cultists, and reclaimed by the Sentinels during a raid. It crushes curse-marked demonic skulls and scatters the shards with its tumblers. Whispers speak of it being powered by the souls of its victims.

Pre-release[edit]

  • In the Developer Direct event in January 23, 2025, the pulverizer's skulls glowed red when the charge is activated, not yellow like in the final game.[2]
  • In press footage released on March 31, 2025, the upgrade menu showed another upgrade for the pulverizer, but in the final release it was given to the ravager and called the "Supplier":
Predator
Demons killed by the pulverizer drop ammo.
