Ravager

From DoomWiki.org

The ravager as it appeared in the Developer Direct event in January 2025.

The ravager is a weapon in Doom: The Dark Ages, part of the skull crusher class along with the pulverizer.[1] The ravager is a rapid-firing weapon which shreds up skulls and fires out the resulting bone shards in a narrow spread. Its rate of fire increases the longer the weapon is fired, but the Doom Slayer's movement speed is reduced.

The ravager is obtained in the Sentinel Command Station.

"Focuses a hail of bone shards in a tight spread, ramping out fire rate over time."
― Description in the arsenal section of the dossier

Tactical analysis[edit]

The ravager works similarly to the pulverizer, but fires its shards in a narrower spread that is better suited to killing single targets. Holding down the fire button will increase the ravager's rate of fire but also reduce the Slayer's movement speed; this behavior can be altered using the Ignition and Slow Burn upgrades.

Upgrades[edit]

The second upgrade tier for the ravager comprises two upgrades. This tier is purchased as a whole, but only one of its upgrades may be equipped at a time. Purchased upgrades can be freely swapped between via the Arsenal section in the Codex.

Lore[edit]

The ravager channels lethal bone shards through a focused path, growing more powerful as it reaches peak fire rate. Its existence is classified due to its arcane origins, and its use is kept hidden from the public due to the moral implications of using crushed skulls as munition. The ravager's runic engravings blaze with a sinister glow as it roars to life, and some operators claim to hear the echoes of tortured souls within.

Pre-release[edit]

The game's files include a video showcasing a cut upgrade for the ravager called "All Cylinders".[2] In this video the skulls are glowing yellow, like the pulverizer, instead of blue like in the final game.
