This article is about the series of items in Doom: The Dark Ages. For other versions of this item, see:

Runes are sigils in Doom: The Dark Ages which empower the Doom Slayer's shield saw. There are four runes in total,[1] with the first rune, Ground Fissure, being obtained at the end of the Ancestral Forge level.

The rune activates when a Hell surge projectile is successfully parried. Only one rune can be equipped at a time. Upgrades for the runes can be purchased at a Sentinel shrine once they have been acquired.

Trivia[edit]

  • Accodring to Hugo Martin there could have been a rune in the game that would summon an ethereal wolf. Through upgrade progression, the player could now summon a pack of such wolves, but it did not work out.[3]
