STR01: Introduction is the first map of Stronghold: On the Edge of Chaos. It was designed by Daniel Gimmer (Tormentor667) and uses a custom music track.

This level acts as a tutorial for the major aspects of the game. It uses the "Deadline" mode, where the objective is to prevent any demons from reaching their goal.

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.


Before the level starts, you will be briefed by Lieutenant Carmack who will explain the vital elements of stronghold defence, such as monster spawning points, objectives and supply pads. You can skip the briefing by pressing the use key.

Enemies will spawn at the east end of the battlefield and make their way to the deadline at the west end of the map. All monsters in this level are holographic and cannot hurt you.

You can leave the tutorial at any time by opening the door in the north-west corner.
