Shallow World Episode 1 is an episode replacement PWAD for Doom II using Boom-compatible source ports, plus two bonus maps for UDMF-compatible source ports. It was created by Peter Blacha (Shawny) and first released on April 13, 2022. Subsequent releases in the idgames archive followed in September 2022 (v1.1) and January 2023 (v1.2).
Using only vanilla assets, the WAD consists of techbase designs with intricately constructed layouts, with all maps integrating a reinterpretation of the central theme of the Doom II counterpart for that map slot into the level progression.
It was selected as one of the runners-up at the Cacowards 2022.
