Skycity is a single-level PWAD for Doom that was released in 1994. It was designed by Darren K. McKeigan. Skycity uses new textures, graphics and new sounds for the weapons. The level is set in a sort of abandoned megastructure, similar to a large shopping mall made out of concrete and marble. Spiderwebs and noticeable signs can be found all around.

The map design is complex and intricate, with several interconnected areas and pathways that the player can choose, which encourages exploration due to the non-linearity of the map, and all the hidden and secret spots that can be found.

It is a very early example of a semi-realistic map trying to recreate an urban-like structure.

Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the south of the level is a short U-shaped staircase. At the eastern end, the eastern wall has a short section with a different texture - shooting it reveals a chaingun. (sector 143)
  2. Just before the room with the octagonal cells is a rocket and a short blue firestick. These mark a secret door leading to a rocket launcher. (sector 85)
  3. East of the red key area is a nukage pit with two 'no entry' signs. The northern one marks a secret door leading to a soul sphere and an energy cell pack. (sector 264)
