Doom Eternal
At some point between Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, Samuel Hayden took control of the remaining military forces of Earth, the Armored Response Coalition, to oppose Hell, using the Crucible as his weapon; he had also managed to use the Crucible as a means of producing synthetic Argent Energy. However, he ultimately fell in combat.
His damaged body was retrieved by ARC personnel, and since Hayden's assistance was needed to discover where the last Hell priest was hidden, the Doom Slayer retrieved both him and the Crucible during his visit to the remnants of the resistance. Once back on the Fortress of Doom, Hayden's consciousness was transferred to the Fortress' mainframe, along with VEGA, and allowing him to provide voice-over information to the Slayer during his journey. His unusual knowledge of the history and technology of the Makyrs is unexplained, as is the ease of which his "alien" (as described by a member of ARC) body was able to adapt to the Fortress of Doom's systems, raising further questions as to who- or what - Hayden really is.
Doom Eternal also introduces an ambiguity to Hayden's true identity, going out of its way to give the Seraphim the line "Take it, it will give you strength... help you on your journey." a throwback to Doom (2016), as well as displaying giving him the same voice as Hayden. Hayden's also displays a great deal of knowledge of about the Maykrs and Urdak, the latter being a heavenly dimension that Hayden himself stated no mortal or demon had ever set foot in(and thus couldn't possibly have known about it by any normal means). Furthermore, back in the ARC Complex, one of the scientists states that Hayden's cortex is alien in design, an oddity (a bizarre finding considering Hayden is supposedly of human origin), and his mind is uploaded into the Fortress's systems even though his body shouldn't be compatible with its Sentinel/Maykr technology. While it has not been confirmed that Hayden is in fact the Seraphim, it seems that there is more to this cyborg than meets the eye.
