making more neutral (I doubt many would consider it 'the easiest'), clarifying, see talk page
Method 1:
The easiest and most efficient is cheat takes the form of a PWAD loaded at startup or a modified IWAD file, to simply edit change the COLORMAP lump. Each light level map you are playing and set all sector light levels in the colormap is changed to be equal to 255. As long as you do not rebuild the maps bsp tree etc this will have no ill effectsfull brightness colormap. It must however be done per map you play  An alternative method is to repeat and although superior play wise it is not a genereal solution for any map. You can either save duplicate the first 16 colormaps two times each (or the first 8, four times each), thereby dramatically increasing the brightness of the game, while still allowing the changes into your doom player to partially view partially invisible things (like [IWAD[spectre]] or load a s and players using the PWADblur artifact whenever you need ). Partial invisibility is achieved via the colormap remapping the pixels behind the cheat availableobject to slightly darker shades, and a totally remapped colormap makes them almost totally invisible.

The only conclusive way to detect the use of this cheat is visual observation of the player's screen as the game is played. However, on maps with extremely dark areas, viewing deathmatch recordings in which the cheat was loaded by one of the players could reveal circumstantial evidence.
