Steve L. Hammer is a background character in Doom 3. He was a service technician who worked at the Enpro Plant facility on Mars. Shortly before the demon invasion, Hammer witnessed a guard Private Swensen kill himself using a plasma rifle. This incident prompted Hammer and his other coworkers to collect all the unused plasma rounds and lock them up in a storage room.
Hammer was most likely killed or turned into a zombie during the demon invasion. His PDA can be found towards the end of the EnPro Plant level near the site where Bravo Team is ambushed and wiped out. It contains the door code for a supply room housing extra plasma rounds and other supplies.
