Steven Maines

From DoomWiki.org

Steven H. Maines is an artist and 3D modeller who worked for Rogue Entertainment after it split from Cygnus Studios. He worked on Rogue's Strife: Quest for the Sigil and created the 3D models used as source art for many of the game's sprites, especially its monsters, as well as sprite work for the game's weapons.[1] He earlier worked at Softdisk alongside the founders of id Software and at Apogee Software, and later worked at Ritual Entertainment and Nerve Software.

The Roman numeral "II" for the Doom II version of the logo was also created by Maines. id Software artist Kevin Cloud was dissatisfied with the earlier flat metallic "II" created for marketing purposes by GT Interactive Software and was aware that Maines possessed a copy of 3DStudio r3 and was skilled with using it, as this tool was being used to create enemies and objects for Cygnus Studios' upcoming projects. Cloud personally asked Maines to try creating a better-looking "II" for the logo and ended up using the result.[2]
