Strife manual

The Strife manual is a 24-page full-color booklet written, printed, and distributed by Velocity Incorporated along with copies of Strife: Quest for the Sigil. The manual uses the small digipack CD format, and is accompanied by a paper map of the town of Tarnhill.

Front cover[edit]
The front cover is the same image as used on the box, showing the game logo at the top with a rendering of the Sigil of the One God in the center. The word "MANUAL" is printed along the bottom.
Table of contents[edit]
Page 2 contains the table of contents and a copyright message by the Software Publishers Association.
System requirements & Story[edit]
Page 3 lists the hardware requirements, necessary hard drive space, supported operating systems (DOS 5.0 or higher, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95), and compatible sound cards.
The bottom section of the page outlines the game's story.
Getting started[edit]
Page 4 through the top part of page 6 describe the game's installation and setup, controller configuration, running it from DOS and Windows 95, and starting single- and multi-player games.

Pages 6 through 8 describe the main menu sections: New Game, Options (and further Settings), Load Game, Save Game, Help, and Quit Game. The section continues with an explanation of how to play the game and talk to characters.
Controlling the action[edit]
Pages 9 through 12 outline the keyboard controls, grouped by: action, weapons, inventory, conversation, map screen, function keys, and multiplayer. Page 13 provides the screen layout, with individual elements annotated.
Stats[edit]
The first half of page 14 describes the player's stats: stamina and accuracy.
Items[edit]
The second half of page 14 through page 16 explain how to interact with items, use weapons and ammo, utilize keys, spend gold to buy equipment, put on armor, and increase health. Also described are some miscellaneous items: targeter, com unit, teleporter beacon, and ore.
Other inhabitants[edit]
Page 17 through the top part of page 19 briefly describe the game's enemies, explain alarms, and introduce other characters: Macil, the Oracle, Blackbird, and the merchants.
Hazards[edit]
Pages 19 and 20 outline the wide variety of challenges and hazards the player can encounter, including several specific to Strife.
Is that it?[edit]
The bottom part of page 20 and page 21 wrap up the manual, explain where to obtain technical support, and include copyright notices.

Weapons and ammo[edit]
Page 23 consists of a table listing all weapons with their slots, the ammo they use, their ammo capacity, and brief descriptions of their usefulness.
Back cover[edit]
The back cover is an image of a chinless skull on a green background, with the words "Trust no one" printed in a 'bone-like' font along the bottom.
