OPL3 Reversed Stereo[edit]

Rumor has it that Paul Radek had a Sound Blaster with reversed stereo on its YMF262, so OPL3 panning is backwards. this is only speculation, but DMX does output OPL3 with channels swapped. ConSiGno (talk) 13:17, 23 July 2015 (CDT)

MIDI volume oddity[edit]

Based on this report, "DMX actually clips midi channel volume value by music volume value instead of scaling it". This is pretty interesting, because it means in vanilla Doom, the balance between channels depends on the music volume -- if there are two channels, one loud and one subtle, then lowering the music volume enough can put them both at equal volume. I'm not sure how to do a write up on this and other known quirks of the library, but I think it deserves to be mentioned. It might also explain why the TNT MAP02 song issue (which has a channel with a volume of 128, though MIDI volume normally only goes up to 127) was never a problem in vanilla. --Gez (talk) 09:49, 20 September 2015 (CDT)

I'll see what I can do, it makes sense. --Quasar (talk) 16:43, 21 September 2015 (CDT)

DMX sources leaked in 2015[edit] —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk)

Nothing there now anymore. --Xymph (talk) 03:42, 3 May 2022 (CDT)

Our general policy is to not document nor link to material regarding leaks, regardless of whom the rights-holder is, at least until such material is officially released (for example info on Doom '16 pre-release leaks was added after the game was out, not before). If Paul Radek decides to release the code (and I keep hearing rumblings that he may do this) then it becomes a moot issue. --Quasar (talk) 09:37, 3 May 2022 (CDT)
